Equipment

Competition gloves are provided at the National Tournament and must be used by all boxers in the competition. Headgear is not provided. All Junior and Youth open class boxers are required to wear open-faced headgear.

Uniforms

Boxers may wear uniforms of any color as long as they do not conflict with the USA Boxing Rulebook (Appendix E, Boxers’ Uniform Guidelines).

Walkovers and awards

If a boxer is present and the opponent is a no-show without at least 3 hours’ notice to the OIC, the boxer who attended receives a win and the boxer who is not present receives a loss. Boxers are only awarded if they have competed at least once in a tournament bout. A boxer must weigh in and can only be awarded the championship title by winning in the ring or if the scheduled opponent has pulled out; only in that case can a boxer win the championship by walkover.

Officials

Eligibility

All registered and duly certified officials are eligible to work the tournament regardless of level. Level 1 certified officials are eligible to work as a judge only. All officials wishing to work the tournament must attend the pre-tournament seminar on Tuesday July 7 at 2:00 PM CST; officials arriving after that time contact the tournament OIC, Rick How, 816-830-9947.
